You have been learning about yourself since the earliest days of your life. One of my all-time favorite Facebook memes: How you speak to your child becomes their inner voice. A child too young to understand what self-esteem is, nonetheless has it. We learn by how we are treated and by the degree to which our needs are fulfilled. We form attachments and experience the most important lessons to functioning without realizing that that’s what we’re doing.
